Erin (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist, illustrator and designer based in Toronto, ON. Their work is rooted in their lived experiences– imagining alternative realities that reject static definitions of identity, culture, and time embracing the plurality of existence. They use a wide range of media from traditional watercolour and gouache to fabrication techniques like laser-cutting and wood-working to bring their ideas to life. Drawing inspiration from nature and the Filipinx diaspora their visual style is colourful, textural, and fluid.
They hold a BAA in Illustration from Sheridan College, and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from OCAD University. Their 2025 Thesis, titled Spectral Embrace [part ii] is a collection of art-objects made to connect the Filipinx diaspora to the ghosts of the archive– those left unnamed within the colonial archive. Drawing from their own familial archive and photographs from the American occupation of the Philippines (1898-1946) the installation unmasks legacies of imperialism across the Philippines, Bermuda, and North America. The art-objects, or altars, combine paper, mylar, and light to obfuscate and reveal the layered images. Thereby collapsing the boundaries of past and present.
In their free time Erin enjoys reading science-fiction, playing cosy video games, sewing clothes, baking sweets, and cuddling with their dog, Lupin.
